I read a bunch of books this week that I wasn’t reviewing – I wasn’t feeling good (meds change, wheee!), and it helps to reread some of my current sets of favorite books. Some of my books feel like old friends – especially the books by the wonderful Dorothy Sayers’ Peter Wimsey books. This week, though, was a week that wanted uplifting, happy endings, so I reread Katie MacAlister’s Dark Ones books. A little vampire romance always makes me happy! I also got a belated shipment from Santa of a few novels form Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series, and those also have nice romantic endings.
I then read two great books – The Unwritten Girl and Fathom Five, both by James Bow. These are great Young Adult/Tween novels that combine fantasy and reality in a really cool way. I’m writing the review for them soon. As a bonus, they’re Canadian, so you get all the extra letters in the words – it’s more for your money!
Now I’ve started the upcoming release from Barbara Delinsky (have any of you read her stuff?) called The Secret Between Us, which focuses on parent-child relationships. Wheeee! I’m not sure if I’ll get a happy ending or a thoughtful one from this one!
I’m finding that I need to balance books for review with books for fun – I can’t only do one or the other. Occasionally things cross over, and I get to review books in a series I was already reading, but usually they are books that sound fascinating and I want to read. I love new books!
Anyone else have comfort books? Any new releases anyone else is panting over?
I’m delighted you liked the books. I look forward to the review.
