I have spent far too much money over the years on dog (and cat) toys that were either never played with or played with once and then forgotten. In the past few years I have become very cynical about dog toys, thinking that the vast majority of them were simply made for suckers who wanted to keep buying things for their pampered pooch.
Well, then we got Jack. Jack loves tennis balls – but only tennis balls, he has no interest in the kids’ toy balls, thank goodness. Jack will play fetch with the ball, jump and spin around in the air to catch the ball, and simply chew on it – he loves them! We bought him regular tennis balls and Pink Tennis Balls (because of Breast Cancer Awareness Month), and were looking for something that was tennis ball-ish, but different. Then we found the Air Kong Squeaker Large Dumbelly.
Jack loves his Air Kong Dumbell! He loves to chew on it and squeak it (though he’s pierced the tennis ball ends a few times now, so the squeaker is going to be gone soon thank goodness). He also loves to catch it in the air – he can catch it by either end, or by the middle part, which gives him an edge. The dumbbell shape makes the throwing a little wonky, which gives Jack some extra mental exercise trying to find where he should catch it – he’s done some great air-spins to catch it! Jack’s not a big tug-of-war dog, but he will play a short game of tug with the Air Kong Dumbell, because for him it’s like having a tennis ball in his mouth.
Tennis bone
We bought a tennis ball on a rope, and he liked that OK, but he loves his Air Kong Dumbell. He’ll just wander through the house with it in his mouth waiting for you to play catch with him, as he walks past the other tennis balls and dog toys.
If you’ve got a tennis-ball loving dog, we highly recommend the Air Kong Dumbell. Very, very, very highly. Jack would give it 5 spotlights, but I’m giving it 4 because the squeaker gives me a headache. 
I think it would be just as cool a toy without the squeaker, and then it wouldn’t be mildly annoying!
