I found myself in need of a new web hosting suddenly in late November. The person who had been hosting my sites until that point went AWOL, and I have yet to hear from him. I needed to get my sites up and running quickly, and I needed to find a good web host who would work with me as I had unusual questions after being hosted by a friend for 6 years.

I was searching for sites that compared the best web hosting services. I wish I had found Top 10 Web Hosting then! This site compares the top 10 sites based on monthly fee (not yearly!), disk space, bandwidth, pop email services, Scripting/Database/Highlight services, and Rating/Reviews.

In addition to the top ten list, you can look at an alphabetical list of hosts, and check out their reviews. While they don’t have every hosting company out there (I noticed that they don’t have the one I use listed), they have a large collection of hosts.

People who are searching for specific web hosting aspects can easily sort by, say, hosts who accept PayPal, or hosts who use cPanel, or many other options. If you are in need of a host who will provide service for more than two domain names, check out this list of hosts who support unlimited domains. Very handy if you want to buy the .com, .net, and .org of your domain name! They also list the monthly price and the setup fee assessed by each site when they list the price - many hosting review sites ignore the setup fee, which can be a big deal for some folks.

If you are in the market for a new web host, Top 10 Web Hosting is one site that you should check out as you research potential hosts. I would also suggest asking friends, and checking the links in the sidebars of websites you like, as they will frequently mention who hosts them. While Top 10 Web Hosting is a great service, I would never suggest accepting the opinion of one site, no matter how many criteria it assesses - Google the web host’s name and complaints, too!
